Project Overview
This case study focuses on designing a seamless and user-friendly reading experience that combines both manga and comics within a single platform. The goal is to create intuitive navigation, personalized recommendations, and an engaging reading experience that caters to both manga and comic readers.
User Interviews
The objective of the user interviews was to understand the expectations, frustrations, and reading habits of manga and comic enthusiasts. Through direct questioning, user pain points were identified, offering a deeper understanding of user behaviour. These insights highlighted the importance of seamless reading and intuitive navigation as key priorities, while also revealing opportunities to create a more user-friendly reading experience tailored to manga and comic readers.

Competitive Analysis
To better understand the market, key competitors were analyzed — VIZ, Asura Scans, Reaper Scans, and Webtoon — focusing on their features and limitations. Identified user pain points were often absent in these platforms. Most notably, none of the competitors combined manga and comics within a single platform. This gap informed the direction of the project, positioning the app as an all-in-one solution for both manga and comic readers.

User Personas
User personas were developed based on research findings to represent different user segments, each with distinct goals, preferences, and frustrations. These personas helped build empathy for users and guided design decisions to ensure the final experience aligned with real user needs.

Concept Development
This concept aimed to create a seamless, all-in-one reading experience that removes the need for multiple apps, as most existing platforms focus on either manga or comics. The goal was to design a unified experience that is both convenient and engaging for casual readers and enthusiasts alike.
Sketches
Using insights from research and the established information architecture, sketches were created to define the structure of app. These sketches acted as a foundation for the design, ensuring a clear and logical information hierarchy.
Information Architecture
Based on research insights and initial sketches, an information architecture was developed to define the structure and navigation of the app. Throughout development, refinements were made to improve navigation clarity and overall usability.

Low-Fidelity Wireframes
Low-fidelity wireframes were created using insights from research and the established information architecture. These wireframes outlined the core structure and user flow of the app, serving as a blueprint for layout and hierarchy.
High-Fidelity Wireframes
Building on research and ideation, high-fidelity wireframes were developed to define the structure and organization of the app in greater detail. These wireframes refined navigation, content layout, and user flow, ensuring a clear hierarchy and an intuitive interface.
User Testing and Iterative Design
After completing the high-fidelity wireframes, user testing was conducted to gather feedback on usability, interface clarity, and missing features. Insights such as rating systems, timestamps, and chapter tracking were used to iterate on the design and improve the overall user experience.
Visual Design
The visual design phase focused on creating a cohesive identity aligned with the target audience and brand direction. A consistent use of colour, typography, and visual elements was applied across all screens. Design guidelines were established to ensure visual consistency and coherence throughout the application.
Mockups
The mockups present the final UI design in realistic usage scenarios, showcasing layout, interaction, and overall usability.
Conclusive
This project aimed to create a simple and unified reading experience for both manga and comics in one platform. The goal was to reduce the need for multiple apps and make reading easier and more enjoyable.
Overall, the final design delivers a clean and easy-to-use reading experience that better supports how users read and explore content.
